The new Haute Couture collection from Jean Paul Gaultier is inspired by ballet art. Now the famous fashion house launches the right footwear to match their pompous skirts embellished with feathers and fur. Here are the new Jean Paul Gailtier pointes on an unsteady wedge.
Jean Paul Gailtier brand breathes a new life into classic ballet shoes with its Fall 2011 Haute Couture collection. The designers left the shape of the classic pointes unchanged but equipped the shoes with a solid sole. There’re also edging elements, tiny bows and satin ribbons that can be tied around feet and ankles, which creates the image of the real ballet shoes.
Since pointes are designed for dancing on the tiptoes, Jean Paul Gaultier includes a graceful and an almost invisible wedge into the shoe construction. As a result, your heels hover in the air without any foothold as if you were a ballet dancer.
Still, it is not Jean Paul Gaultier who invented such a shoe construction. You can find similar models in the United Nude shoe collections and even more sticking models are created by a London shoe-maker Natacha Marro. However dangerous the shoes may seem there will always be somebody who would appreciate their unusual looks. For instance, Daphne Guinness simply adores such “crazy” footwear.
Jean Paul Gaultier mixes male and female outfits in its Haute Couture 2011 collection and arrays men in evening Haute Couture garments. The designer didn’t make experiments with men’s heeled shoes; he just combined thin dresses and transparent trousers with brutal boots.

Jean Paul Gaultier gives a treat to its admirers with its unpredictable style combined with classic French spirit. In general the new collection is rather strict with black being the prevailing color. At the same time, the main trend of the season is the strive towards innovative shapes and colors.
The shoes look like classic pumps by their shape. In some models, the classic shape is enlivened with single and double straps fastened on shins. Such décor elements add spice to the image of a modern woman. It is the token of the Jean Paul Gaultier style – refined, feminine, sexy and zestful.
